Katherine Gentic，Katie was born in Vienna, VA to Jacqueline (Hartop) and Miomir "Mike" Gentic, who worked in construction until his passing in 2005. She has one older sister, Tania, who is a professor of Latin American literature at Georgetown University. Katie is of Serbian and British descent and is the first American in her family.
