Roman Reuven Jerzy，Reuven's mother, fleeing the Nazi invasion into Poland, gave birth to him in Russia while on her way to a refugee camp in Austria. After the end of the war, he moved to Israel with his family where he would grow to be an Israeli Air Force Pilot. After moving to the states in his late 20's, he worked as a charter pilot.
