Following the popular uprising of October 2014, Burkina Faso launched a historic vote. The “Balai Citoyen” (Citizens’ Broom) movement, a key actor in the revolt that forced former President Blaise Compaoré to flee the country, played its part as a driving force and guardian of genuine democracy.
