Hutongs, the famous ancient city alleys in Beijing are disappearing from Beijing's city map, in anticipation of hosting the Olympic games in 2008. On every street corner in this city, there is some form of demolition or construction taking place. Thousands of Beijing's residents have been relocated to the high-rise apartments, and their lives have completely changed. Lin Jun is a Chinese herbal doctor, and his family kept a small clinic in Beijing Hutong for many generations. However, many of neighbors had moved and patients are decreasing, he finally decides to give up and leave his hometown. One day, he set out with his huge medicine cabinet on the carrier of the bicycle, and delivers it to a neighbor town to selling it out. Riding through the Hutong, he sees that his friends and the neighborhood have struggled to survive and never give up hope. Those sights made a deep impression on Lin Jun, and he began to think over once again.
