Konfrontation

On February 4th 1936, three years after Hitler's rise to power in Germany, a 25 year-old Jewish student, David Frankfurter, shot and killed Wilhelm Gustloff, the leader of the Swiss Branch of the German National-Socialist Party, at his home in the mountain resort of Davos. Immediately after his act Fankfurter gave himself up to the police and sated that he "felt compelled to take vengeance on the representative of the regime which had made life in Germany impossible for Jews. I killed Gustloff because he was poisoning the atmosphere of Switzerland".
