Sailing to Freedom

Based on a true story, this film tells the story of Estonian boat refugees whose initial plan to travel from Estonia to Sweden becomes a journey to the other side of the world. Their dangerous 7400-mile endeavor in a 33 foot fishing boat received remarkable attention in the world press of the 1940s and '50s, inspiring thousands of other freedom-seeking refugees around the world.
